Sunrise Children’s Services has been providing a loving Christ-centered ministry to the children of Kentucky since 1869. This unique ministry has been affiliated with Kentucky Baptists since its inception. Sunrise has evolved over the years as the needs of children and their families have changed. Today, Sunrise often becomes a home for children in crisis who have been abused or neglected and have been removed from their homes. Kentucky holds the unfortunate distinction of being among the states with the most child deaths resulting from abuse and neglect. Over 15,000 children were abused or neglected last year, and those are just the cases that were investigated. Sunrise becomes a place where children who have been removed from their homes can feel safe and begin to heal. Sunrise also provides care and hope for hurting families through a number of Christ-centered ministries. These ministries include foster care, residential care, therapeutic treatment and community-based services that are located throughout the state. They are the largest nonprofit provider of services for children in crisis in the state of Kentucky.
Their web site states “We are a Christian ministry that, through God’s direction and leadership, reaches out to children and families with Christ’s love and compassion. We are committed to presenting a clear message of Christian values.”
