Orphans Heart is the international ministry of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, bringing love and transformational care to needy children. Teams from First Baptist Murray have worked in a small village in the Dominican Republic under the direction of Orphans Heart. This ministry takes a three-pronged approach to their outreach. Their efforts concentrate on the construction of single family houses, outreach to children through Vacation Bible School, and ministry to families. The FBC team was involved in each of these areas. They worked on 4 of the more than 60 houses that have already been built there by Orphan’s Heart. The houses surround a larger building known as the Community Transformation Center. It’s here that they met daily with over 150 children and parents to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through Bible stories, verses, crafts, songs and games. They also assisted in packing and distributing food boxes for this ministry. In addition to staple food items, the families also received Bible Story books and New Testaments. Please pray for the church that has been planted in this community in the Dominican Republic, that it will be a source of God’s Light, Love, and Hope for the people who live here.
