On December 27, 2016, a team of seventeen left Murray to continue the tradition of sharing the love of Jesus to those who live on the banks of the Amazon river. The team traveled to FBC’s partner church at Inija on the Mapuera River, home of the Wai Wai Indians, where they participated in the following ministries: construction, medical, eye glasses, Bible study, Vacation Bible School, and evangelism. The mission invited Wai Wai friends from other villages on the river to receive medical services and participate in activities.
FBC continues its missional partnership to encourage and support the evangelical efforts that extend throughout the Trombetas and Mapuera regions. Because of FBC and its heart for missions, the Wai Wai Indians have a church and a desire to share Jesus among their people and other indigenous people groups.
Another team will head to Brazil in 2018, and the church family will again support this missions effort through prayer, donations of items for ministry, and financial support through the WMO.
