As Christians, we are called to act out the powerful love of Jesus, who the Bible says was "moved with compassion" for people in desperate need. Jeff Palmer, Director of Baptist Global Response, states that almost 800 million people around the world live with constant hunger and 1 in 6 in North America are undernourished. We know that in developing countries, 45% of deaths in children under five are caused by poor nutrition. In addition, we find that a mind-boggling 10.8 million Syrians have been driven from their homes by violence. Many struggle each day to find food for themselves and their children. These are big numbers but behind each number is a person for whom Christ died. We can easily be overwhelmed by the scale of the problem and do NOTHING because we don’t think we can make a difference. Using Global Hunger Relief funds, Baptist Global Response and the International Mission Board are providing food parcels and basic survival kits to families in need, but the needs far outstrip the resources being provided by supporters in the United States. Through our World Mission Offering we will be donating $2000 to Global Hunger Relief (formerly the World Hunger Fund). Of every dollar, we donate to Global Hunger Relief, Baptist Global Response uses 20 cents for hunger projects in North America and 80 cents for hunger relief overseas. 100 percent of donations to Global Hunger Relief go to meet these needs.
Baptist Global Response provides bread for life while building relationships with people and teaching them about Jesus, the Bread of Life.
