meet the staff

At First Baptist, we have an incredible staff that desires to see God move in incredible ways.  To email a staff person, simply click their name.

  • Keith joined our staff as Pastor during the fall of 2012. He loves First Baptist Church! A graduate of Murray State University, he was a member of FBC during his college days and while serving as the Campus Minister at Murray State. After graduating from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Keith spent 28 years serving in the area of Collegiate Ministry at Arkansas State University, Murray State University, and as Director of Collegiate Ministry and Young Adults with the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Keith is married to Carole and they have three children and two grandchildren. Keith enjoys hiking, reading, golf, and SEC football.

  • Boyd Smith first came to First Baptist Church as the Minister to Students & Activities in 1994. After serving in this capacity for nearly 17 years he became the Pastor of Prayer & Care, a new position at First Baptist Church. He spends much of his time at the hospital, nursing homes, retirement centers and the homes of the elderly. He knows what it’s like to be sick and he has experienced the healing touch of God as well. He believes in the power of prayer and keeps a prayer journal of the requests that people give him. He and his wife Wanda have been happily married for over 33 years.

  • Jeremy joined our pastoral team during the summer of 2015. As Associate Pastor of Families, Jeremy oversees our preschool, children, youth, and collegiate ministries in addition to providing organizational support to our Senior Pastor. He has a tremendous heart for family ministry and equipping the family unit to be everything it can be for Christ. He has served at churches in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. Jeremy is married to his wife Jennifer and they have 3 boys (Jacob, Zach, and Drew). In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family, most all sports and definitely Kentucky Basketball.

  • Although being raised in a Christian home, Jon Kyle did not receive Christ as Lord of his life until his junior year of college at Murray State University. It was there in his apartment room in Murray that God rescued him and set his feet on the solid rock of hope and grace. He has never been the same since that day! He received a B.S. degree from MSU in 2007 and is currently working on his MDIV seminary degree. Jon Kyle is married to his beautiful wife and best friend Jamie, and the Lord has blessed them with four wonderful daughters (Halle, Anna Grace, Nora, and Layla). It is his goal at FBC to teach students on how to reach and teach their peers for Christ.

I love UK and Racer basketball, anything sports, food, going to the beach, and any excuse to spend time with my family.

Erin joined our team as College Ministry Assistant in 2016 and helps oversee the events and program of our NET college ministry.  She has a tremendous heart for college students and a desire to see them grow in their walk with Christ.

Erin is the wife of Jonathan (Murray State BCM Director) and mother to Jackson, Frazier, and Chaney Beth. Together, they like to spend time as a family, travel, work around the house, and go on Clark Family Adventures.

  • Melissa has been a part of a FBC since 2014.  During her time here at FBC, she has been active in children's ministries, MOM's ministry, and the van and bus ministry.  She came on staff in 2016 as our children's director where she oversees our preschool and children's ministry.
